Green Iguanas can grow to 5 feet and are found around Fajardo and Vieques Island

I drifted by this 5 foot iguana in my kayak. These iguanas are not originally from Puerto Rico but are really thriving here. They have become a pest! They must be filling some ecological niche, as they sure are multiplying!

This mangrove canal runs from Las Croabas into the bioluminescent lagoon of 'Las Cabezas de San Juan' Nature Reserve, northeast tip of PR. see 'Activities Page' for details. 'Kayaking Puerto Rico ' and 'Enchanted Island' do both day and night trips from Las Croabas and other areas. There are similar kayak trips in Vieques, into the mangrove canals and the bioluminescent lagoon at night. Visit Elenas Vieques Island website for photos and information about Vieques.
